c. 1900 Solitaire Engagement Ring with Open Multi-Split-Shank Shoulders

Period c. early 1900s post-Victorian

Inscription: the faint trances of a hand-inscription remain, but the name is illegible

Marks: the inside of the shank bears a “14” next to a sans-serif “RC”, both within stylized shields. While we have found a number of “RC” marks in our research, none match those in this piece, nor have we been able to identify this particular shield shape. It’s possible that the “RC” is a maker’s mark or an obscure provincial mark. Regardless, these are particularly obscure old marks.

Materials: 14K gold; diamond

Dimensions: the top of the ring measures approximately 7.00 mm wide north to south; the ring stands 5.00 mm tall above the finger

Size: 6 1/2 (free sizing)

Diamond: .78 carat late Old European Cut / early Transitional Cut diamond (GIA assessed as Circular Brilliant; K color; SI2 clarity)
