Two Tone Victorian Revival Old Mine Cut Diamond Three Stone Ring

Period: We designed this ring in collaboration with our goldsmith. It is a new, handmade, one-of-a-kind piece. The structural design is based on a Victorian three-stone ring in Shauna's private collection. The color play, however, is our own interpretive touch. This piece plays with notions of contrast--warm and cool, summer and winter, day and night--as seen not only in the two-tone yellow gold and platinum mount, but also in the diamonds themselves. The side stones are near-colorless and extend the cool hues of the platinum, whereas the center stone has a marked antique faint Cape color, serving to break up the side diamonds by subtly mirroring the warmth of the yellow gold. And while the mount itself is newly created, the diamonds are orphaned stones pulled from 150 year-old antique pieces that were damaged beyond repair, adding another dimension by combining the (very) old with the new.
