Pebble & Polish Original: Petite Two-Tone Engagement Ring with an Elongated Old Mine Cut Diamond

Period: Contemporary, hand-crafted by our goldsmith. The shank was carved in wax and cast, with a subtly ornamented split shoulder that gives the ring openness and lift. The head and bezel were forged directly in metal, with striated and dimpled detail encircling the bezel cup. Executed in two tones—18K yellow gold and platinum—the mounting offers a quiet interplay of color and texture, drawing the eye without competing with the stone.

The design looks back to Victorian forms, themselves indebted to ancient Etruscan and Roman jewelry, creating a layered historical resonance. At the center is a subtly elongated antique Old Mine Cut diamond, dating from the mid to late 1800s, with the chunky facets and tall dome so charming in old cuts. We feel the juxtaposition of an antique stone with a newly wrought setting underscores both continuity and renewal: a jewel with history, given a new lease on life.
