Early Victorian Old Mine Cut Diamond Ring with Floral Shoulders

Period: mid-1800s Victorian; British

Inscription: the ring is hand-inscribed in an ornate script, “E.H.H. Sept 1st 1845.” (“1875” also possible, but to us it reads “1845” — see images for reference.)

Materials: approx. 12K gold (stamped “14” within a shield, but tests closer to 12K—it is our opinion that the stamp was applied, inaccurately, many years after the ring's creation as laws changed over time requiring that all gold items be marked for gold content); blue cold enamel; natural diamond

Dimensions: 7.25 mm wide north to south; the ring stands 5.25 mm tall above the finger

Size: 5 1/4 (free sizing)

Diamond: GIA-assessed 1.06 carat Old Mine Cut diamond with K color and SI1 clarity
