Period: c. late 1800s to early 1900s; late Victorian / early Edwardian. The ring's profile is particularly lovely, where the platinum basket rises above the warm 18K gold shank in a series of slender, almost architectural prongs. There's something faintly Gothic about them. They read less like a complete cathedral than the surviving spires of an older structure, and their age only seems to make them more beautiful. The subtly banded shoulders reinforce that sense of historic ornament without making the ring feel overly decorative, while the contrast between platinum and gold adds another layer of visual interest.
Hallmarks: the ring was assayed in France and bears the French owl hallmark on the outside of the shank
Materials: 18K gold; platinum
Dimensions: the top measures approx. 7.0 mm north to south; the ring stands 4.5 mm tall above the finger
Size: 5 (free sizing—contact us for more info)
Diamond: .75 carat early Transitional Cut diamond (GIA assessed as Circular Brilliant; G color; SI2 clarity). This is a nicer SI2, and we find the stone to be eye-clean.
