Shauna's Secret Stash: Antique Bypass / Toi et Moi Old European Cut Diamond Engagement Ring

A Shauna’s Secret Stash piece! These are the rings that rarely make it to our shop, having instead spent years protected in a safe or on Shauna’s hand. She returns to them again and again in her ever-evolving rotation of fabulous favorites. Only a few emerge each year (some seasons none at all) and may God help me if I attempt to list one without Shauna’s explicit go-ahead.

This one has resisted my best efforts to post in our shop for far longer than I care to admit. A late Victorian bypass toi et moi, it is a piece she holds especially close: two old European cut diamonds poised like lovers in embrace, with their broad facets catching the light with that unmistakable, candle-like glow unique to antique stones. Yet the gold of the crossing shoulders and multi-prong baskets lends warmth and stability to the bright and flickering diamonds, creating a graceful interplay of dynamism, tension, and resolution. Shauna has enjoyed this ring for years. Though we list it with reluctance, we list it with love.
