Ornate Hand-Pierced Edwardian Platinum Ring with an Art-Nouveau-Inspired Scallop Motif

Period: c. 1900s-1910s Edwardian; the lilting scallop / fishscale motif recalls Art Nouveau paintings and graphics from the 1890s, though the overall aesthetic borrows heavily from ornate French Rococo design.

Materials: platinum; diamonds

Dimensions: approx 10.5 mm north to south; the piece stands 5.9 mm tall above the finger

Size: currently between 7 1/4 and 7 1/2 (free sizing)

Diamonds:
Center: GIA certified 1.16 carat late Old European Cut / Transitional Cut diamond with F color and SI2 clarity. This is a particularly unique stone. Because of its chunky facets and large culet, the stone “reads” almost like a super spready Old Mine Cut. However, because of its cut proportions, GIA calls it a “Circular Brilliant,” which is their designation for a Transitional Cut.
Accents: sixteen Single Cut diamonds (.25-.30 ctw., est.)
