Dated "1873" Gold and Old Mine Cut Diamond Engagement Ring with a Buttercup Basket

Period: 1870s; Victorian era — fun fact: this ring is as old as Germany! The piece is dated “1873”, which is probably a wedding date, so the ring was likely crafted a bit before then. The German Empire was formally founded in 1871, prior to which point “Germany” was merely a collection of various independent entities. Though the ring doesn’t necessarily have any direct ties to the region, it’s fun to keep things in historical perspective.

Inscription: on one side, the shank is inscribed “1873”; on the other side; the shank is inscribed “W.C.A. to M.E.McN.”

Materials: 18K gold with trace black-enamel accents

Dimensions: the top measures approx. 7.2 mm wide north to south; the ring stands 5.2 mm tall above the finger

Size: 6 3/4 (free sizing; contact us for for information)
