Period: 1870s; Victorian era — fun fact: this ring is as old as Germany! The piece is dated “1873”, which is probably a wedding date, so the ring was likely crafted a bit before then. The German Empire was formally founded in 1871, prior to which point “Germany” was merely a collection of various independent entities. Though the ring doesn’t necessarily have any direct ties to the region, it’s fun to keep things in historical perspective.
