Followers of our shop know that we tend to stick to antique and vintage pieces. We have too much love for the true Old School way of doing things, wherein jewelry making required seemingly superhuman metalsmithing skills. It seems such passions are catching.
After working on a countless number of antique pieces, our jeweler took it upon himself to expand his repertoire of Victorian metalsmithing techniques. He succeeded. He then went the extra mile and decided to come up with his own "authentic" Victorian piece. He succeeded again! This design is the outcome and we absolutely had to have it in our shop. The piece was 100% made by hand. Now, we're aware that "handmade" jewelry is easily found. But soooo much of it is merely assembled by hand, not actually made by hand. This ring, however, was constructed completely a mano. He recycled his own gold, carved and cast his own baskets, and pulled his own wire. We are truly honored to represent the piece in our shop. And while we may well ask him to make a series for us, this is the original piece (and, as far as we know, the only one of its kind). It's soooo pretty! Even sitting on the desk upside-down this ring is a stunner!
