French Early Art Deco Platinum Sapphire and Diamond Cluster Ring with Hand-Pierced Metalwork

Period: c. late 1910s - 1920s; Art Deco; French stamps; hand pierced

Stamps: the outside of the shank is stamped with a French dog’s head

Materials: platinum, sapphire, diamonds

Dimensions: the top of the ring measures approx. 16 mm north to south; the ring stands 5 mm tall above the finger

Size: 6 3/4 (free sizing)

Gemstones: all stones assessed in their mounting by a GIA GD—weights and grades are approximate and determined as mounting permits
     Center: 2.38 carat (est.) square-cushion mixed-cut sapphire, very dark blue hue — preliminary examination suggests that the stone is natural, but makeup, origin, and treatment status cannot be guaranteed without laboratory examination
     Accents: .90 - 1.05 ctw., est.; fourteen natural mixed antique cut diamonds (Old Mine Cut, Swiss Cut, and Old European Cut) with approx. H-I color and ranging VS though I clarity (approx. SI clarity overall)
