Old European Diamond and Gold Rope-Twist Filigree Engagement or Cocktail Ring
You know the old adage about lemons and lemonade? Well, upon inspecting this ring for structural integrity (which we always do), the original prongs were worn and the stone was a bit loose. This proved to be a blessing, however, as we both felt the original 1mm stone was far too small for a setting with such presence.
So, we upgraded the diamond and the result far exceeded our expectations! This Old European Cut shares the same early 20th century origins as the ring, and the stone's brilliance perfectly compliments the setting's ornately detailed beading and rope-twist filigree. We're proud to offer a spruced-up ring that is as historically authentic as it is eye-catching and unique.
The diamond weighs .21 carat and measures approximately 4mm in diameter. It is an exceptionally clear and bright stone, with H/I color, VS1 clarity, and the crisp snowflake-pattern faceting for which well-cut Old European diamonds are prized.
The setting is hallmarked 10K-P (for "10 karat plumb" – meaning 'exactly' 10K solid gold). The gold is yellow with the slightly rosy hue common to antique alloys.
At its widest point, the basket of the ring measures 14.5mm across. The diamond rises 5.8mm off the finger. The ring shank tapers from 2mm at the shoulders to 1.4mm under the finger.
Currently fits a ring size 6, but may be modified – please contact us for sizing options and pricing.
