Belle Époque Engagement Ring in Gold and Platinum

Period: This ring bridges historical periods. Dating to c. 1900-1910, it was technically manufactured in the Edwardian period. Indeed, this piece is textbook Edwardian in that it represents many of the design trends that thrived during King Edward's reign. Yet many people would note this piece's Victorian aesthetics. Late Victorian jewelry designers were certainly fans of combining gold and platinum in their pieces, and they often employed elegant architectural structures, much like what's seen in this piece.  Perhaps the most accurate classification for this piece--one that embodies both late Victorian and Edwardian designs--is Belle Époque.
