c. 1940s / WWII-Era Samsan Company Gold, Platinum, and Cabochon Cut Garnet Ring

Period: c. 1940s - early 1950s Retro (most likely post-WWII/late 1940s)

Maker: the piece is stamped “SA” within the outline of a box. The mark is that of Samsan Company, founded 1943 in Providence, Rhode Island (some sources claim the company’s was founded in the late 1930s). The company began applying copyright stamps to their items in 1955. As this piece has no such stamp, the date estimate is c. 1943-1954, though the piece was most likely produced just after the close of WWII. 

Materials: 10K yellow gold; hand-carved platinum plate shoulders; garnet

Dimensions: the ring measures 10.30 mm wide north to south; the piece stands 8.00 mm tall above the finger

Size: a slightly tight 7 (free sizing)

Gemstone: earth-mined garnet; approx 9.31 x 9.41 mm in diameter; the stone is approx. 5.80 mm tall
