Victorian (1883) Mourning Ring / Unique Engagement Ring with an Oval Rose Cut Diamond Center

Period: This is a Victorian mourning ring from 1883 with champlevé shoulders and a halo of black enamel around the center stone.

Inscription: the ring is hand-inscribed, “Oct. 18, 1883…in memoriam”

Stamps: the piece is marked with a “PA” for the maker’s mark and a “15” denoting 15K gold

Materials: 15K gold; black enamel; diamond

Dimensions: 12.4mm north-to-south; stands a very low 3.3mm above the finger
